Quick answer

Profit = selling price − cost price. Profit % = profit ÷ cost price × 100. If the selling price is lower than cost, the difference is a loss and loss % = loss ÷ cost price × 100.

How to use the Profit and Loss Calculator

  1. Enter cost price per unit.
  2. Enter selling price per unit.
  3. Enter quantity (optional).
  4. Read profit or loss and the percentage.

Worked example

Bought at ₹800, sold at ₹920: profit ₹120, profit % = 120 ÷ 800 × 100 = 15%.

Formula

Profit = SP − CP;  Profit % = (SP − CP) ÷ CP × 100
Loss = CP − SP;  Loss % = (CP − SP) ÷ CP × 100

Frequently asked questions
