Quick answer

Choose your images, type the target size (for example 100 KB) and click Compress. The tool finds the best quality that fits the target, or you can set the quality yourself. You can also convert to JPG or WebP and reduce the width. Phone photos are often several megabytes and usually shrink a lot with no visible difference. Your photo is processed inside your browser and is never uploaded to our server.

How to use the Image Compressor – Reduce Photo Size to KB

  1. Choose "Target size" and type the KB you need, or choose "Quality %".
  2. Pick the format: same as original, JPG, WebP or PNG.
  3. Optionally set a maximum width, e.g. 1600 px for websites.
  4. Choose up to 30 images; each compressed file downloads automatically.

Worked example

An 850 KB phone photo compressed to a 100 KB target comes out just under 100 KB.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression happens on your device using your browser. Nothing is sent to our server.

Why can't I set a KB target for PNG?

PNG is lossless, so its size cannot be tuned with quality. Choose JPG or WebP for a target size, or reduce the width.

Which format is smallest?

WebP files are usually noticeably smaller than JPG at the same quality. Some government forms accept only JPG, so check before using WebP.

Can it compress to exactly 20 KB or 50 KB for a form?

Yes for JPG and WebP. For exam forms that also need exact pixel sizes, use the Photo & Signature Resizer.

Does it remove location data from photos?

Yes. The compressed image is redrawn, so EXIF data such as GPS location is not copied into the new file.
