Frequently asked questions

How do I write ₹1,50,000 in words?

Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only.

How do I write paise in words on a cheque?

Write the rupees, then "and", then the paise: ₹1,234.50 is "Rupees One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-Four and Fifty Paise Only".

Why write "Only" at the end?

1 lakh = 100,000 and 1 crore = 10 million. Indian documents use lakh and crore; international documents use million and billion. The tool can write both.

Is "Twenty-Five" or "Twenty Five" correct?

Both are accepted on cheques. The tool uses the hyphen, which is standard written English.
