Some websites say 300 KB; the 2026 notices say 200 KB for the photo and 100 KB for the signature. Your photo is processed inside your browser and is never uploaded to our server.

How to use the UPSC Photo & Signature Resizer

  1. Choose Photograph or Signature.
  2. Choose the image. For the signature, sign three times on white paper and photograph the whole block.
  3. Position it in the frame (the signature keeps its own shape).
  4. Click Resize & download and upload the JPG on upsconline.

Worked example

A 3 MB phone photo becomes a 450 × 580 pixel JPG of about 150 KB, inside the 20–200 KB limit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UPSC photo size limit, 200 KB or 300 KB?

The 2026 UPSC notices say the photograph must be at least 20 KB and must not exceed 200 KB. The signature file must be 20–100 KB.

Why three signatures?

UPSC asks candidates to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper using black ink, and upload them as one image.

Do I need my name and date on the photo?

The 2026 notices we checked do not ask for name and date on the photo. Follow the notice of your exam if it says otherwise.

Is my photo uploaded to your website?

No. The resizing happens in your browser and nothing is sent to our server.
